Our Indigenous Mentor Workshop provides participants with an opportunity to meet and learn directly from Indigenous Cultural Educator Jason Von Roehl. Participants will be engaged in a visual PowerPoint Presentation that describes the early life, education journey, employment choices, life changing moments and the creation of the business Our Cultural Conversations. Participants will walk away with an insight into the life of someone who is passionate about everyone having the ability to learn and experience Aboriginal culture.

Workshops are tailored to suit the needs and age of each group, including primary and secondary students, Indigenous leadership groups, workplace teams and adult community groups.

A key aspect of the workshop is the opportunity to learn directly from an Aboriginal person with lived experience. For many participants, this may be their first opportunity to sit down, engage in conversation and learn face-to-face from an Aboriginal person. This provides a valuable and authentic perspective that cannot always be gained through books, presentations or other resources.

Workshops are delivered by an Aboriginal facilitator with lived experience of Aboriginal life, including attending an Aboriginal school, working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and travelling to and spending time in Indigenous communities. These experiences provide participants with genuine insights into Aboriginal culture, history and contemporary experiences.

Our Indigenous Mentor Workshops are suitable for:

• Primary school students
• Secondary school students
• Indigenous Leadership Groups
• Workplace teams and organisations
• Adult education and community groups
• Professional and community development programs

The Indigenous Mentor Workshop is a 60min duration and allows for Q&A time.

The aim is to create an engaging, respectful and meaningful learning experience that encourages greater understanding, awareness and respect for Aboriginal people, culture and history.
